Body Life Groups
At White Fields, we believe that the Body of Christ is not simply a disparate group of individuals with shared beliefs. Rather, we are a living body, filled with the Holy Spirit and called into deep, intimate fellowship with God and with one another. One important way we foster this fellowship is through small groups.
We endeavour to model our small groups, called Body Life Groups, on the pattern revealed in Scripture, specifically Acts 2:42:
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
A proper understanding of this verse gives clarity about what a Body Life Group is and how it functions. Our Body Life Groups are small gatherings (typically 10–15 people) of believers who commit to meeting together weekly for the purpose of Bible study, fellowship, and prayer.
They Continued Steadfastly
This suggests regular, committed gatherings. We ask our BLG members to commit to their groups and to one another through consistent participation and faithful attendance.
Apostles’ Doctrine
We utilize a sermon and text-based study format. Each week, BLGs study and discuss the passage of Scripture from the previous Sunday’s sermon.
Fellowship
This is the act of building meaningful and growing relationships with other group members. It includes supporting one another, spending time together, and “breaking bread” through shared meals and communion.
Prayers
Each week, time is intentionally set aside to seek the LORD together in prayer.
